Moderating Leaves Chat 1

Content Areas

When you’re just starting as a mod, you’ll review two different areas on Leaves. They can be found on the sidebar, but it’s much easier if you just bookmark them in your browser.

The Mod Queue

https://www.reddit.com/r/leaves/about/modqueue/

The Mod Queue is a collection of posts and comments that have had some sort of action taken on them already. AutoMod has taken them out, someone reported them, reddit has flagged them for some reason, all kinds of things.

Your job is to read them over, have a look at why they were removed, and then take the appropriate mod action. The AutoMod and other processes have been pretty well tuned over the years, but there are still false positives, so while most of these will come out you’ll still need to approve some.

The Unmoderated Posts Queue

https://www.reddit.com/r/leaves/about/unmoderated/

These are the posts that have not been reviewed yet. AutoMod doesn’t catch everything, so your job is to read them over and make sure they conform to the rules.

As with the others, you will either approve them or remove them. Once you take one of those two actions they are automatically removed from the queue for you and for every other mod so they aren’t reviewed twice.

There are other mod actions we take, like reviewing comments, answering modmail, and the dreaded banhammer, but since you’re just getting started this is all you need to worry about for now.

Next, let’s look at the action you take as a mod…
