Moderating Leaves Chat

Getting the Tools

The fact of life of moderating on Reddit is that it’s something that has to happen on your PC or laptop. We have all been asking for good quality moderation tools for mobile, but nothing yet.

So step one is firing up Chrome on your computer (these may work with Firefox or Chrome extension-compatible browsers, but we haven’t tested them) and getting the extensions we use to moderate.

Moderator Toolbox

The first tool we (and most subreddits) use is called Moderator Toolbox. It is a Chrome extension you can find here:

Moderation Toolbox adds a whole bunch of functions like standardized mod messages and convenient links that make our job significantly easier.

Just hit “Add to Chrome” and you should be all set.

Snoonotes

Snoonotes is a plugin that lets you associate notes with each user that are visible to all other mods. You can find it here:

Each time you take a moderation action with a user, you’ll add a note so we can keep track of our moderation actions

Once you add it to Chrome you may need to click “Login” in the upper right corner of your browser.

If they’re installed correctly you should see some new icons and options on posts and comments. More on these in a bit.
